Occupier Deceased
When the occupier of a property dies, an exemption may apply from the date of death.
This exemption is dependent on individual circumstances, to meet the criteria:
- The property must be unoccupied from date of death and;
- The deceased person must have been the only owner or tenant of the property
Under this exemption the property can be furnished or unfurnished.
If the exemption applies it will continue for up to six months following the granting of probate or letters of administration or until the property is occupied.
