COUNCIL TAX BILLING

Please check your bill for your instalment dates and amounts. The first instalment for the new year will be due on 1st April (unless you pay by Direct Debit on 4th, 12th, 20th or 28th of the month). We anticipate our phone lines will be busy over the next few weeks. Phone lines will be extended Monday to Thursday until 7pm between March 17 and 27. Phone lines are open until 4.45pm on March 21 and 28. 

Students & Apprentices

Certain students or apprentices are not counted when looking at the number of adults living in a property.

Discounts are available for:

  • Full time students: Complete the Student Application form (PDF, 592 KB) and provide a student status certificate.
  • School leavers: 18 and 19 year olds who have just left school.
  • Child Benefit: People over 18 still receiving child benefit. Please provide your award letter.
  • Apprentices: Complete the Apprentice Application form (PDF, 589 KB) and provide a copy of your apprenticeship agreement and wage slips.

Full exemptions are available for:

  • Exempt Class K: The property has been left empty by a student owner.
  • Exempt Class M: Student halls of residence.
  • Exempt Class N: All occupiers are students, school or college leavers or dependants of students.

Change in Circumstances

If you qualify then you must tell us within 21 days if there is a change that might affect it. We can impose a £70 penalty if you do not tell us about a change. Keep us informed of changes on revs@boston.gov.uk or by calling 01205 314200.

Q. Do I get a discount if my partner is a student?
A. Possibly. If there are two adults living in the property then you may receive a 25% discount.
