SHREDDED PAPER:

The reasons we are unable to recycle shredded paper is that it is too small and light for the automatic equipment used in the Material Recovery Facility to segregate. Sensors used in equipment are not able to identify shredded paper and as such this becomes a problem in separating this for re-processing. Shredded paper can also become lodged in conveyor belt mechanisms, it can blow around the Material Recovery Facility becoming a potential fire risk.

Please bag all shredded paper and place in your green bin for collection.
