SERVICE CHANGES:

Please be aware there are some refuse collection changes over the Christmas and New Year period - check if you are affected at www.boston.gov.uk/ChristmasCollections

Deductions are being made from my benefits, what does this mean?

A liability order has been issued by the Magistrates' Court, and we have asked the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to send a deduction from either your Universal Credit, Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance or Pension Credits directly to us.

The DWP will tell you the amount that will be deducted each week and when the deductions will start.  These deductions continue until the Council Tax you owe for the liability order is paid in full, or until you stop receiving benefits. If you stop receiving benefits and the debt is still unpaid, you need to contact us to make an arrangement to pay straight away.

If you pay the amount in full, we will stop the deductions being made from your benefits.  If this is your intention, contact us on 01205 314200  and select Debt Recovery to speak with an advisor once you have paid.  Once we have received the payment and it is showing on your council tax account, we will let the DWP know that the balance is paid in full.
