Dangerous Structures

When notified of potentially dangerous structures we will carry out an investigation. Surveyors are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to deal with any incident relating to a dangerous building or structure, and they are able to give advice on the course of action that may be necessary to make the building or structure safe.

If necessary, we can take any action deemed necessary as detailed within the Building Act 1984 to remove or make safe a danger.

This service is free of charge for attending site or reporting the potential danger.

Charges may be applicable to the owner if we undertake work on the owner's behalf under section 78 (Dangerous building - emergency measures) of the Building Act 1984. From 1^st April 2025 a charge of £70.00/ hour is applicable for officer time during normal hours and £105.00/ hour out of hours. Please note: this charge is in addition to any costs incurred for works undertaken.
