Planning application approved for Public Realm Area in Boston
The regeneration of the public realm area in Boston has reached a new milestone following planning approval for the first phase of the Rosegarth Square regeneration project, which was awarded £14.8 million in government funding.
This funding will enable the revitalisation and repurposing of the public realm area, creating a new multi-functional space that stretches from St Botolph's footbridge to the Len Medlock Centre. The project aims to enhance community life and instill pride among residents, transforming the space into a gateway to the heart of Boston.
The new public realm will feature relocated and new artwork, external social spaces, and a new entrance/drop-off area for the Len Medlock Centre. It will also include a sensory garden designed for quiet contemplation and reflection, as well as an amphitheatre-style seating area.
Public feedback, gathered through numerous consultations, has been integral to shaping the designs, which will be brought to life by the project team.
Councillor David Middleton, Chair of Planning Committee at Boston Borough Council, said: "The approval of the Rosegarth Square regeneration project marks a significant step forward for our community. This new public realm will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of our town but also provide a vibrant, multi-functional space for entertainment and specialist markets, one-off events and much more for residents and visitors alike.
"It's a testament to the Council's commitment to enhance the surrounding area for future investment and foster a sense of pride and belonging among our community."
