Get Ready for Festive Magic: Boston's 4-Day Christmas Festival Approaches as Funding for the Town Centre Grows!

With just over a week to go, Boston Town Centre is gearing up to shine bright with dazzling Christmas lights which will start shining as part of the four day Boston Christmas festival that will run from 23rd to 26th November and light up the town throughout the festive period.

The Council has been conscious of the need to invest in the town and its Christmas festivities in order to attract new funding streams and importantly bring people back into the town, in order to support the local economy and help build on our sense of community particularly at this important time of year.  This approach is bringing significant reward with funding now surpassing expectations!

The Council can report that the town centre will benefit from £50,000 of UK Shared Prosperity Funding towards the purchase of Christmas lights for this year and future years, and working in partnership with Transported Arts project, we have been able to invest £30k from Arts Council to draw a further £30k from the National Lottery. This will deliver a comprehensive schools and community programme so that hundreds of pupils and residents can be part of a spectacular light parade as part of the towns Christmas lights "switch on".

Shop till you drop at the Christmas Market, with over 50 traders offering a variety of Christmas delights. And guess what? Free parking in all council-owned off-street car parks from 4pm on Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th November, plus the first four Saturdays of December!

Join us for a magical experience with a real Christmas tree at Ingram Memorial, and our white-themed Christmas lights which will be sparkling throughout the town centre.

Stage performances, walkabout entertainment, and the magical Illuminate Parade by Transported await you! Don't miss the festivities at St Botolph's Church and Pescod Square Shopping Centre throughout Thursday.

Cllr Dale Broughton, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Town Centre, said: "Excitement is building as Boston gears up for the first 4-day Christmas Festival! The festive lights, market stalls, and entertainment will make this a celebration to remember. We are grateful for the community's enthusiasm and the generous support from sponsors. Let's make it magical!

Cllr Anne Dorrian, Leader of the Council, said: "As the leader of our vibrant council, I'm thrilled to witness the anticipation building for Boston's Christmas Festival. The festive spirit, illuminated by community support and the dedication of our sponsors, is a testament to the unity that defines our town. Let's embrace the joy and create lasting memories together!"

Nick Jones, Director at Transported Art said "We are absolutely delighted to be able to offer hundreds of people the chance to work with inspiring artists, to learn new skills and to be inspired, putting art and culture at the heart of what makes the town a great place to live, work and visit."

The Council are delighted to have rebuilt good working relationships with local retailers, James Gleeson of Wilcox and Carter said: "We are really enthusiastic about the Christmas Festival coming into Boston, I think it will be a great event and an awful lot of effort has already gone into making it special for everyone."

Special thanks to our sponsors Boston Town Area Committee who has contributed to this year's Christmas celebrations and Listers Toyota for making this joyous period even more spectacular.
