The owners of a Boston fish and chip shop are celebrating after seeing a surge in their food hygiene rating
Salih Akansu and his wife, Cristina, took over Pisces chippy in August. Structural problems at the shop meant that food safety officers could only award a hygiene rating of 2 at their initial inspection.
Now, after a revisit, the score has been upped to a 4. Salih and Cristina scored top marks for food hygiene and cleaning, and were only a few points away from getting the top rating of 5.
Explained Salih: "The inspectors were very impressed, and just need to see that we're maintaining the standards going forward.
"We are confident that we will achieve our goal of getting 5 at our next inspection."
Cllr Callum Butler, Portfolio Holder for Environmental at Boston Borough Council, said: "Salih and Cristina have worked very hard since they took over the shop, and I'm delighted to see that they are now rated good."
