Opportunity to join the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel
The Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel is seeking a committed individual to serve as an Independent Member on the Panel for a four-year term beginning in November 2023.
The Panel has the responsibility to scrutinise the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner to support the effective exercise of the Commissioner's functions. This includes reviewing the Commissioner's Police and Crime Plan, Annual Report, Council Tax proposals for local police funding and future appointments for senior Commissioner staff and the Chief Constable.
The Panel consists of 10 local councillors in total from the 8 local authorities in the Lincolnshire Police Force area, plus two Independent Members. The successful candidate will bring a balanced, objective, independent and open-minded approach to the role and through their knowledge, experience and skills, will further support the Panel to undertake its functions.
The typical commitment required for the position is expected to average one day a month, including preparation time. The Panel's meetings are currently held in the daytime in Horncastle. The successful candidate will receive appropriate training and be able to claim reasonable travel expenses. Whilst a separate allowance is not currently paid a review of allowances will be undertaken later in this financial year.
