Boston Businesses Sign Up for Funded Support

Businesses based in Boston Town are joining a fully funded support programme that has been designed to help them to innovate and grow plus develop the workforce. The Centre for Food and Fresh Produce Logistics is funded by

Boston Town Deal and is being delivered by the University of Lincoln and Boston College.

The programme provides benefits tailored to meet the growth and training needs of the business and aims to enhance productivity and profitability. Projects designed to enhance the use of technology and innovation new to

the business are supported by the University of Lincoln and employee training is provided by Boston College and paid for by the programme. There is also a Capital Grant option of up to £10,000 to pay towards equipment purchases that will enhance business performance.

One of the latest businesses to join the programme is Alpego UK, agricultural machinery suppliers based on the Fen Road Industrial Estate. Sales Director Mark Dolby said: "This opportunity has come at an ideal time for our business. We have a need for some technical support to broaden our customer base and focus on new markets. We will also be taking up the Capital Grant option to purchase equipment that will enable us to substantially improve our efficiency and customer care in the after sales service and repair side of the business. We have also recently taken on some new staff so the funded training will be of benefit for enhancing their knowledge and qualifications."

Programme Manager, David Thorpe from the University of Lincoln said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses operating within a wide variety of sectors plus, unusually for funded support, we can also include

restaurants and retailers linked to the food and drink sectors and their supply chains. The enrolment process is quick and easy and help with this is available."
