Tree Planting at Dion's Wood Nature Reserve
Over the past three weeks our community has come together from all areas of the borough to help the Boston Woods Trust plant around 16,000 native standard trees at Dion's Wood Nature Reserve.
The trust and council had put out a plea for community support to plant these trees over a three week period and was amazed by the turnout by local schools, local businesses, neighbouring allotment users and community residents of all nationalities.
The Dion's Wood Nature Reserve is located adjacent to the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston off Willoughby Road and covers an area of 35 acres, it has a nature feature lake which will help attract wildlife.
Emma Hadley, CEO of Voyage, said: "I am delighted that our Voyage learners and staff had the opportunity to work on this brilliant project with the Boston Woods Trust.
"We are very passionate about our Voyage Green Promise and one of our priorities is 'To Know More and Grow More', so to have had the chance to plant so many trees in our local community was fantastic!
"I know how much our learners and staff team members enjoyed the morning. We are looking forward to doing more projects with the Boston Woods Trust later this academic year."
Keep an eye out for official opening details for Dion's Wood Nature Reserve coming in the New Year from Boston Woods Trust.
Thank you to the community for helping Boston Woods Trust and the council with working towards and taking one step further on their green agenda which is part of the adopted Climate Change Strategy.
