The Borough has an air quality management area at Haven Bridge.
Another at Bargate Bridge may be revoked.
It is important that new developments consider how they may generate further traffic, not only on Haven Bridge, and how the impact on air quality could be mitigated. In addition development can be proposed near busy roads and be impacted by traffic fumes. A recent coroners judgement highlighted the dangers of traffic fumes in London. Although the level of pollution in Boston and London are very different it is important to consider how developments can be designed to minimise exposure.
Guidance is available on how the requirements of Policy 30 in the South East Lincolnshire Local Plan can be approached.
