Pre-application planning advice
Boston Borough Council is to continue to charge for pre-planning application advice.
A scale of charges was introduced in July, 2011, for advice which had previously been given for free. It was felt that the service was being used as a free consultancy.
The council's Cabinet heard that pre-application advice benefits applicants by identifying planning issues at the earliest stage and helps improve quality of design.
Introduction of charges brought the council into line with other authorities.
Cabinet agreed to introduce a £72 charge for pre-application advice for householder applicants and fees for 11 and above dwellings and equivalent commercial floor space up to a maximum of £3,000. These changes will be effective from November 6.
Inquiries to ascertain whether planning permission is needed in the first place will continue to be free.
