Fydell House Centre
A fine example of a Georgian house built in the 1720's.
The finest house in town was built in 1720 by Samuel Jackson and bought and altered in 1726 by Joseph Fydell, a local merchant and importer of cloth. It is a fine example of high domestic architecture of the period and has many original features including a formal walled garden. Joseph Kennedy opened the American Room in 1938 in his role as ambassador of the USA.
