Drug Misuse

In 2014 drugs were responsible for 2,248 deaths in England and Wales, a 21% increase since 2010. There were also 14,279 hospital admissions with a primary diagnosis of poisoning by illicit drugs.

Drugs destroy thousands of relationships every year and put families and careers under significant pressure when their loved ones are using drugs.

If you need help to talk about drugs with your child or have a drug problem, there is a lot of support and help available. A good place to start is your local substance misuse treatment provider Addaction on 0800 3047021 or visit your family doctor. Alternatively, you can ring the FRANK helpline on 0300 1236600 for more information about drugs and the different options available. The confidential helpline is open every day, 24 hours a day.  Calls are free from land lines and some mobiles.
