Could your community project use £5,000?

Calor rural community fund is offering a chance of cash for various projects up to a maximum of £5,000.

Many can apply, such as community centres, village halls, schools, sporting venues, youth clubs, scout groups, initiatives to support the elderly or any project that will improve local life. Winning projects from 2018 included a school garden project, a school outdoor environmental learning area and a new kitchen for a clubhouse at a sports association.

Organisations which apply and meet the eligibility criteria, will move on to a general public vote, where the ones with the highest number of votes from each category will become finalists. The winners will then be chosen by an independent panel of judges.

The total funding pot is worth £70,000 and this year Calor is also partnering with Crowdfunder to give projects the opportunity to raise even more funds.

The applications for funding are divided into three categories -  £1,000, £2,500 and up to £5,000; the funding applied for must equate to 50 per cent or more of the total project cost.

The fund opens on Tuesday, March 5, and  interested groups need to register their details in order to receive notifications about the funding dates for 2019.
