Community litter champs praised by Mayor

Community-spirited volunteers, who turn out in all weathers to litter pick across the borough, have been thanked and praised by Mayor Cllr Judith Skinner.

She said that her and her fellow councillors appreciated that they gave of their free time to keep their area tidy and was sure that their neighbours thought likewise. Even visitors have remarked on how tidy the town is.

The community litter champions act as individuals or in groups keeping the town and all areas of the borough clean and tidy. We as a council also find it helpful to have eyes and ears about in the borough as it enables us to act quickly with reports, for example, a fly-tipping incident.

She welcomed them into the council chamber to thank them for their continuing efforts.
