Shortlisted for top award

Boston Borough Council has been shortlisted in the LGC Awards 2019.

The council's submission in the environmental services category, entitled Boston's Big Clean Up, has been considered by judges who said they had a difficult job scoring the entries and commended the high quality of entries this year.

In the shortlist announcement to the council they said: "To be shortlisted is a fantastic achievement."

The entry detailed all the council's activities to combat the scourges of litter and fly tipping including such initiatives as the activities of 3GS, action in the courts against littering fine dodgers, attempts to reduce contamination in the recycling collection, Operation Fly Swat and the annual Big Boston Clean Up.

A team of three from the council now have to go before a panel of judges who will make the final overall winner decision to be announced in March.
