Wild Seas Week: Get your camera trigger fingers ready

Boston borough's coastal areas offer great opportunities for amateur photographers - from sweeping vistas across the mudflats and marsh with dramatic skies to wildlife at the RSPB reserves at Frampton Marsh and Freiston Shore.

Once again a special week of marine-themed events includes a photography competition open to all. The Wild Seas Week competition is looking for any original marine-themed photograph from anywhere along The Wash and North Norfolk coast.

Entries must capture the spirit of place and can be entered under three categories - culture, people and nature - and in two age groups - adults (16-plus) and juniors (up to 15).

You can enter one photograph in each category. They must have been taken within the last three years.

A winner will be awarded for each category and each age group and an overall winner will be selected from the final six. All the winners will join members of the Marine Partnership and judges for the evening on Friday, August 3, at the historic Marriott's Quay in King's Lynn to launch Wild Seas Week.

Inspirational views and wildlife, people taking part in activities telling the story of this maritime place and iconic buildings or cultural features may all qualify.

To enter your photographs email them to sam.lew@wnnmp.co.uk by July 6 with your name, contact details, a short description, location and the date the picture was taken.

Wild Seas Week is from Friday, August 3, to Sunday, August 12. Close to home it will include seal and birdwatching cruises with the RSPB and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, sailing out of Boston on board the ever-popular Boston Belle, mini raft building, bug hunting, Haven clean-up, summer stroll and walk with the warden at RSPB Frampton Marsh, a walk with litter picking activities at Sutton Bridge and Skegness, wildfowling exhibition at Fleet Hargate, Wash walks at Holbeach St Matthew's, wader watch at RSPB Freiston Shore and other events from King's Lynn to Cromer.

See www.wnnmp.co.uk for full details of all events.
