Carlton Road Pupil Parliament welcomed by The Mayor

The Mayor of Boston welcomed eight members of Carlton Road Academy Pupil Parliament into the Council Chamber to meet him personally and view the Civic Regalia.

This visit followed an invitation extended to all schools within the Borough.

The pupils learned about the history of the council, how council meetings are conducted, the role of being Mayor and they heard many interesting facts about Boston and the meaning of the Regalia which was delivered by the Mayor's Officer.

The children held a question and answer session with the Mayor in a council meeting scenario and then each child had their turn in the Mayor's chair bringing the session to order with the gavel which they all thoroughly enjoyed, even the teachers.

They were later given a tour of the CCTV suite by the council's Community Safety Manager, Peter Hunn.
