Top cop's RUN, HIDE, TELL advice

One of Britain's top cops has joined the Run, Hide, Tell message campaign aimed primarily at 11 to 16-year-olds.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Lucy D'Orsi says the simple advice could keep youngsters safe during a terrorist attack.

Hard men such as Bear Grylls, James Haskell, Ant Middleton, Jamie Vardy and Taekwondo expert Jade Jones, despite all they have achieved, have already said they'd Run, Hide and Tell in the event of a weapons attack.

RUN : To a place of safety - a better option than to surrender or negotiate;

HIDE : If there is nowhere to RUN to: Better to hide than confront and turn your phone to silent or vibrate. Barricade yourself in if you can;

TELL : The police by calling 999 when it is safe to do so
