Remembering RAF fallen and the Battle of Britain

The Battle of Britain Day ceremony was held today (Friday September 15) at the Obelisk in the Memorial Gardens, Wide Bargate.

The service was conducted by Revd Alyson Buxton and Revd Jane Robertson with assistance from Adam Kelk, Head Verger of St Boltoph's Church. Readings included Psalm 46 by Derek Coates, Welfare Officer and Membership Officer, Boston Branch of the Royal Air Force Association and the Dedication of the Royal Air Force Association by Mr Alec Wilson, President of the Boston Branch of the Royal Air Force Association.

The last post followed prayers and the wreath was laid before crosses were placed in the Garden of Remembrance.

Also attending the ceremony was the Mayor of Boston and Admiral of the Wash, Cllr Bernard, his wife, the Mayoress of Boston, Mrs Jayne Rush, Deputy Mayor, Cllr Barrie Pierpoint and Deputy Mayoress June Petherick, Commander officer of RAF Coningsby , Group Captain Mike Baulkwill, Royal British Legion Boston Branch President, Don Ransome and members of the Royal Air Force Association and Armed Forces.
