Photographers with an eye for the marine theme have been invited to submit their pictures in a Wash Week competition.

Wash Week is a marine-themed celebration of the internationally-important estuary with events taking place from Skegness to Sheringham in North Norfolk.

For full details of all events planned from Friday, August 4, to Sunday, August 13, see

Wash Week organisers want original marine-themed photographs from anywhere along The Wash and North Norfolk coast that captures the spirit of place under three categories - culture, people and nature.

Entrants are welcome to enter one photograph in each category, which can be as old or a recent as you like. The winners of this competition will join members of the partnership and judges for an evening at the historic Marriot's Quay, King's Lynn, on Friday, August 4, to launch Wash Week 2017.

A winner and runner-up will be awarded under each category, and one overall winner will be chosen from the final six images by award-winning wildlife photographer Chris Knights.

Inspirational views and wildlife, people doing activities that tell the story of this maritime place and iconic buildings or cultural features may all qualify. These will then be used within various publications and online (all credited) as part of promoting the importance of the area to help inspire others to appreciate this great place.

To enter your photograph, you need to submit it to by July 9, 2017 with your name, contact details and a brief photograph description.
