Raising the flag for Armed Forces Day
Boston Deputy Mayor, Cllr Barrie Pierpoint, accompanied by Deputy Mayoress, Mrs June Petherick, raised the Armed Forces Day flag in Memorial Gardens on Monday, to help raise awareness of the achievements and contributions of the Armed Forces people, past, present and future.
This is part of a simultaneous hoisting of the Armed Forces Day Flag on the Monday prior to Armed Forces Day to be flown until after Armed Forces Day itself on 24 June. This important event is also a demonstration of our recognition and appreciation of our people and what they do.
The Armed Forces Day flag was hoisted aloft at 10.30am as The Exhortation was recited.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Deputy Lieutenant of Lincolnshire - Mrs Joan Ashton, Wing Commander Butterworth and Station Warrant Officer Patrick Howell-Smith from RAF Coningsby, Presidents and Members of the ex-services organisations and Cllr Stephen Woodliffe.
