Boston firm wins top business award
A Boston company has been hailed Sustainable Manufacturer of the Year.
Dynamic Cassette International (DCI), which has its headquarters in Marsh Lane, received the accolade at the Made in the Midlands awards.
DCI is Europe's leading manufacturer of remanufactured printer cartridges. The company, which prides itself on a zero landfill policy, recovers all materials in-house, including used toner powder, wood and metal.
The awards were organised by Insider Media. Chase Distillery and last year's winner, Purity Brewing, were both beaten to the prestigious award by DCI.
DCI was represented on the night by Marketing Manager, Cassandra Brennan, Social Media Executive, Calum Chinchen and Business Development Manager, Donna Savidge.
Donna said: "We are delighted to win such a prestigious award and would like to thank Insider Media and all those involved in the awards for choosing us. We are continuously striving to satisfy environmental concerns and pride ourselves on our sustainability, so being recognised means a great deal to everyone here at DCI. It was our first time attending the awards, and we can't speak highly enough of how impressive the evening was - we will certainly be returning in the future."
DCI are now automatically through to the national finals - Made in the UK - held on Thursday, June 22, in Liverpool, where they will be up against other manufacturers from around the UK, for the same category.
Ben Thompson of BBC Breakfast, who hosted the Made in the Midlands awards, tweeted DCI with his congratulations shortly after their win.

Clive Gibbon, Boston Borough Council's economic development manager, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for all colleagues at Dynamic Cassette International. I have been privileged enough to witness first-hand the pride and commitment all staff take in delivering thousands of remanufactured sustainable products and I can truly understand why they are deserving winners.
"Beating other very talented businesses to this prestigious award really highlights the calibre of businesses and workforce we have here in Boston, and yet again shows that the borough of Boston really is a great place to do business.
"Boston Borough Council wish all at DCI the very best of luck in the national Made in the UK awards in June".
