Boston Heritage Strategy

Boston has a rich, diverse and unique heritage.  Over the last  five years this recognition,  appreciation and understanding  has grown as the value of both the built and natural environment  is realised. As a  result, there is now an increased  need to put in place a strategy which sets out clear aims and  objectives to understand, restore protect and share this heritage.  The initial draft of a Heritage Strategy for Boston was circulated for consultation during autumn 2016.  Based on feedback from this first stage of consultation, this document has now been amended and updated.  A second and final stage of consultation is now open  for feedback.

Boston Town Centre Conservation Area Management Plan 2017 - 2020

In October 2016, Boston Borough  Council working in partnership with  Heritage Lincolnshire submitted a Heritage Lottery Funded application  for a Townscape Heritage Project for an area within Boston's Town Centre Conservation Area.  This Management Plan has been produced to support the objectives of this project alongside its wider  aims which is to provide a framework  for managing change, identifying  issues and suggesting measures to  reduce existing or potential risk as well as offering proposals to enhance parts of the Conservation Area, which is currently listed on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register.  This document is now available for consultation.

Boston Shop Front Guide

pdf icon Boston Shop Front Guide [3Mb]

This guide will help owners and  leaseholders of shops to produce high  quality and well-designed schemes  when considering an alteration to  their building, particularly in relation to the unique and special character of the historic environment.  It will also provide  information on what Boston Borough  Council aims to support and encourage  through heritage led regeneration. The initial draft of the Shop Front Guide was circulated for consultation last year, with recommendation by Boston Borough Councilors to circulate for wider stakeholder approval.  A second and final stage of consultation is now open for feedback.
